   STEPPING UP YOUR GAME
Gamers rejoice! The Department of Media Arts has unveiled the all-new Game Studies and Design major! This interdisciplinary program, based on the Game Studies and Design Certificate program, seeks to give students a leg up in a competitive industry. Students learn a set of core concepts before specializing in a concentration, effectively allowing them to customize their degree plan.
For now, one concentration, Narrative Storytelling and Production, is available. Two more concentrations, Programming and Game Design & Art and Design, are slated to launch in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
Read more about the new major, as well as the faculty, students and alumni who brought it to life.

   A RIPPLE EFFECT
Did you know that nearly 42% of UNT undergraduate students are the first in their family to earn a degree? UNT is dedicated to fostering these first-generation students and helping shape them into the leaders of tomorrow. Resources such as the First-Generation Success Center and Emerald Eagle Scholars program assist students with academic and financial needs, as well as provide them with a community of other first-generation students.
Read about several first-generation alumni in The North Texan, UNT’s alumni magazine.
