PBS HAWAIʻI PRESENTS:Pau Hana Years

Pau Hana Years aired on KHET-TV, now PBS Hawaiʻi, for 16 years, from 1966 until 1982. The program was hosted by Bob Barker and Charlotte Simmons and highlighted Hawaiʻi's older generation. Every Thursday in June, we will highlight two half-hour episodes of Pau Hana Years, featuring interviews and performances from some of Hawaiʻi's most beloved figures in their later years.
In 1972, Bob Barker traveled to the Friendly Isle for a celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Homesteading on Molokaʻi. The festivities, marking 50 years since the first homesteaders on Molokaʻi, featured song and dance from local artists, including a performance from the legendary George Helm.

| SKY BLOSSOM: Diaries of the Next Greatest Generation (Mon., May 30, 9:00 pm) highlights the challenges that these individuals face caring for loved ones who are veterans, particularly during the ongoing pandemic, and sheds a raw, uplifting view into the lives of 24.5 million children and millennials who step forward as caregiving heroes.

Final Thought… Hawaiʻi recently hosted the annual Student Television Network Competition at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, a three-day event that featured some 200 Hawaiʻi students, competing against 3,000 other students from across the nation who joined the event virtually. The competition between some of the best student storytellers in the country was intense, with tight deadlines to meet, under challenging conditions. How did Hawaiʻi students do?
