Faculty Spotlight - SAM HOLLOWAY
Coming off a heavily attended Orchestrate 2016 Conference where Sam Holloway was featured as the keynote speaker on Day 2, Sam has been busy traveling the world, including his latest trip to China. His outreach efforts on behalf of the Pamplin School of Business has garnered him the fun title of "Where in the World is Professor Holloway" series on PSOB’s social media.
Last year, Sam was awarded the prestigious Ascendant Scholar Award from the Western Academy of Management. The award is given to faculty members who have a maximum of 6-7 years of experience and are considered “ascendant” through an academic record that includes their areas of research, teaching, and service.
As an Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Sam's research includes business model innovations and how strategy affects the design of organizational architectures. He has been published in Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings, Academy of Marketing Science Review, and Journal of Strategic Innovation and Sustainability, among others.
His current research includes studying the business side of craft brewing which led to the creation of CRAFTINGASTRATEGY.COM, with fellow UP Professor, Dr. Mark Meckler, a global online learning community whose mission is to empower and teach craft brewing entrepreneurs how to run profitable businesses.
Sam has become a pioneer by integrating Crafting A Strategy into the 1st online program at the University of Portland. The Pamplin School of Business’ courses are part of the school’s Master Strategist Certification: Craft Beer Business.
We are extremely proud to have such an accomplished Professor on our team Go Pilots!
