Hi all, 

I’m writing to provide timely resources for the end of the academic year. This email will cover things you should be thinking out when moving out of your space, where you can donate used items, or where to dispose of items that cannot be donated. If you’ll be here over the summer, scroll to the end for recommendations of fun things to do in Durham.  

Move-Out Checklist  

As you’re moving out, consider donating items you no longer need to local non-profits.  

You can also contribute items to the Kenan Really Really Free Market 

If items can’t be donated, please dispose of them properly: 

House residents: Request curbside bulky-item pickup. This is by request only—do not leave items on the curb without arranging disposal. 

Apartment residents: Take non-donatable items to your community’s designated trash area. Failure to remove furniture or trash may result in fees or deductions from your security deposit.  

Duke Police is alerting the community to recent thefts of specific Kia and Hyundai models and encouraging owners to take advantage of free antitheft upgrades.  

The Dean of Students Office invites students, staff, and faculty to share anonymous feedback on the Duke Community Standard, including conduct policies and resolution processes, as part of our 2026–2027 review.
