New Mustang Missions Project Raises $1,002 for Manna Christian School in Dominican Republic

Each month, the collective focus of our student body is placed on a different charity or organization through Mustang Missions.
This month, Coach Shoemaker and the 9th grade class introduced a new opportunity to raise funds for Manna International, a non-profit organization bringing hope, education and a new life to those in need in developing countries around the world in the name of Christ.
“This past summer, I went on a mission trip with our youth group to the Dominican Republic and we stayed on the campus of the Manna Christian School,” Shoemaker said. “Mr. Tappe mentioned to me that we needed a new Mustang Mission for the spring semester and asked for my suggestions. I thought that since we already help sponsor an elementary school in Haiti, it would be cool if we could round it out and help support a high school somewhere.”

Jonathan Rogers
Q&A with the newest member of the Board of Directors.
Tell us about your family.
My wife Rachel and I met in high school at CAC, dated through college at Harding University and we’ve been married for 13 years. Rachel has been involved with CAC since she was in PreK4 – she went all the way through. She then taught here after she graduated from college.
We have two sons, Dylan and Caleb. Dylan is 7 and in the first grade with Mrs. Wood; Caleb is 5 and in PreK4 with Mrs. Zini. They love life, that’s what I’ll say. They are boys, so they love to fight, they love to snow ski, they love the beach. Right now, they are playing t-ball and basketball. We have a dog named Ben, who is interesting. That’s a whole different story in and of itself.
We attend Levy Church of Christ, and we love that there are adults there who care about our children as much as we do.

What do you love about CAC?
The fact that our kids have always had teachers who love them for who they are is amazing. Our boys come home and tell us that their teachers are the smartest people in the world. We feel like everyone at this school demonstrates love to our kids in ways they wouldn’t get anywhere else.
We have two different kids with two very distinct personalities. We teach our oldest son about the Bible at home, and he learns a lot at church, but the Bible knowledge he has because of what he learns at school is really amazing.
Our youngest son is 100% different in the fact that he is smart, but he doesn’t really like the idea of school. And I’ve loved to see him grow outside of his comfort zone and socially interact, because these are the people you want him to socially interact with.

March 10, 2017. The cast and crew of The Seussification of Romeo & Juliet worked together to create a wonderful show! We are always impressed by their hard work, discipline and creativity. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!
"When it comes to empowering students and parents, CAC is the best!
We are always provided with opportunities to assist the staff and faculty in making the best of our son's middle school experience. ... He is exposed to exceptional curriculum and guided by committed faculty and it shows, as he is now more confident in his academics and his extracurricular activities. There is no doubt that my son is benefiting from the relationships and experiences that have developed because of CAC. We are happy and, most of all, he is happy as well."

On March 5, seventh grader Gregory Febock competed in Little Rock Half Marathon, finishing 5th in his age group, with a completion time of 2 hours 13 minutes.
The previous day, Gregory ran the Little Rock 5k as well.
Gregory said he and his mother have participated in a 5k run every month since June (except for January, when they ran a 10k).
The half marathon was a challenging next step, but he said he enjoyed it and plans to continue running in the future.
Way to go, Gregory!
We are so proud of you!
