COVID-19 Response
ISC is focused on providing the best value for clients, with an emphasis on cross-team collaboration:
  • ISC is co-leading the COVID Response Team and Project Quaker. In four months, we operationalized lab space and saliva collection sites requiring staff, supplies, lab & IT equipment, systems & infrastructure, and a campus communications campaign.
  • 8 new COVID testing sites and a flu clinic were wired for network connectivity.
  • 3 floors of enhanced wireless capability were installed in the Sheraton to support quarantining.
  • We rapidly set-up Covid-19 call centers to address parent and student concerns.
  • 60 classrooms were outfitted to support distance learning, and numerous virtual events supported.
  • 120 PCs shipped to remote workers; dozens shared with departments as part of emergency loan program, including Wellness staff tele-counseling.
Amidst COVID-19, ISC is still focused on

Deliver High-Quality Services

2.7M and 51K virtual meeting participants during Q2 of FY21 for Zoom and Teams, respectively.
1,100+ campus phones have been migrated to the cloud-based PennFlex Phone, which provides enhanced features like off-campus calling to support remote operations.
16,900 wireless devices were connected to PennNet in Q2 of FY21, supporting remote work.
33K and 7.5K total support tickets managed in CY20 by ISC’s Client Care and HireIT, respectively.

Anticipate Future Change

1.7M log on sessions, 1.2M business processes initiated, 1M payments made, and 140K compensation events in the CY20 for Workday@Penn.
The NGSS Program is preparing for its upcoming go-live in Fall 2021. Part of the go-live efforts include implementing a Current Systems Freeze period, which limits non-regulatory changes to current systems. Other go-live preparations include planning the virtual Spring 2021 Information Session, which will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021. The session will be a forum for the community to learn more about the project as a whole, including the deployment of Curriculum Manager 3.0, and the new section maintenance tool, CourseLeaf Section Scheduler (CLSS). More details are available in the February 2021 Community Newsletter.  
Penn is collaborating with Salesforce on a series of projects to provide a path to success for a centralized system of record for constituent management, fundraising activities, the online Alumni community, and more. Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is providing strategic leadership to the overall effort in collaboration with key stakeholders from across the University. The Online Community project was completed in November of 2020 and is now being supported by ISC. The next project, Marketing Cloud, is currently underway with delivery planned for June 2021.
The Office of the Vice Provost for Research continues to make advances on the Research Portal Program, an initiative providing new, centralized access to research administration information and tools across three projects: Grant Financial Management, Conflict of Interest and Extramural Disclosure, and the Research Portal.

Protect Penn

The internal IAM project is replacing decades-old systems to strengthen Penn’s overall security. The PennPath project supports users outside of Penn who need access to University resources, including support for the PennOpen Pass symptom tracker.
Enrollment reached 12,347 (63%) for PennO365 Two‑Step Verification during Q2 of FY21. Several Schools and Centers are using ISC’s Two‑Step for O365 enrollment tools to smooth their migration path.

Exercise Fiscal Stewardship

ISC's cost mitigation plan focuses primarily on reduced expenditures on contractors, facilities, and vendors. ISC currently manages 315 vendor contracts with a total value of $62M. In Q2 of FY21 we were able to negotiate discounts of $3.2M.

Recruit, Retain & Develop

228K and 66K Knowledge Link/LinkedIn Learning training courses and videos were completed Q2 of FY21, respectively.
