Dear Campus Community:
We acknowledge the impacts of the wildfires burning across our state, and we have many faculty, staff, students, and families in those areas directly affected by these fires. As these fires continue to spread rapidly, many UNC community members and families have had to evacuate. We’re concerned about our Bear community’s wellbeing and mental health and would like to offer some support and assistance.
The following UNC resources have been identified to help those in need during this time. If you are unsure of which resource to use, please contact Student Outreach and Support (below) at dos@unco.edu.
Resources
UNC Housing & Residential Education is offering temporary housing to those in our community who have been displaced or evacuated from their homes. There will be no charge for housing during the first two weeks. After two weeks the charge for emergency housing is $23 per person per day. Housing will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Provides support by coordinating with campus resources, makes appropriate referrals, and provides follow-up services to address an individual’s unique needs.
The University Counseling Center provides professional counseling services to currently enrolled UNC students free of charge. You may contact the Counseling Center to make an appointment at (970) 351-2496 or you may visit their website for additional information.
The Psychological Services Clinic is a mental health agency operated in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC).
If applicable, DRC can assist in creating an accessible university community, where students with disabilities have an equal opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of the educational environment.

UNC’s Dining Services can offer on-campus meal convenience and flexibility with meal plan options and Dining Dollars for our community members.
SOAR provides students with academic and personal support in an inclusive environment by teaching them the skills necessary to make self-motivated academic decisions. SOAR can help students navigate some of the academic questions they may have while facing other life challenges.

Provides peer-led individual, small group, and supplemental instruction tutoring sessions to promote proactive and independent student learning.
Bear Central in the Campus Commons, comprises the Office of Financial Aid, Bursar’s Office, and Office of the Registrar in one central location. Students can get help with billing, financial aid, or registration questions. The Registrar’s office is a resource if students would like to withdraw from a course or fully withdraw from the University. For deadlines regarding Individual course withdrawal/ Full semester withdrawal please visit the Registrar’s website.
