Dear GW Community,
We’ve often been taught that physical health is important. We’re encouraged to regularly
move our bodies, eat balanced meals, and get quality sleep each night. Taking care
of our mental health is equally as important. In observance of World Mental Health Day, today, October 10, 2024, we encourage you to show your mind some love and unite behind this year's theme, "workplace mental health." Some events and resources that can positively impact your overall health and well-being are included below.
If you have questions about any of the benefits featured in GWell or other benefits programs, please contact us at benefits@gwu.edu.

The Headspace team invites you to step away from your day and share a collective moment of calm in honor of World Mental Health Day. Each one of us deserves access to the tools and resources that support better mental health for all. Put out the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign and treat your mind to a soothing meditation.

Expand your Reading Horizons |

GW Benefits partnered with Professional Book Club (PBC) Guru to create a virtual well-being book club for faculty and staff. The books selected for reading and discussion cover the social, emotional, financial, and physical pillars of well-being.
Are you ready to embark on a new reading adventure? The GWell Chapter Chasers Book Club is gearing up for our next book, Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown. All faculty and staff are invited to join us for the reading period beginning October 11 through December 13. It’s a fantastic opportunity to dive into a new story and share your insights with fellow GW colleagues!

Make Mental Health a Priority
|
|
|
|
Many people may handle their work, family duties and other day-to-day activities “okay,” yet inside feel anxious, sad, stuck and lonely. It’s easy to dismiss these feelings as just “life stress.” Instead, try tuning in to—not out of—these feelings and making your mental health a priority. Keep these tips in mind to move from “just getting by” to feeling happier, hopeful, and connected. Achieving total well-being will help you to function at your best.
