Good morning! The Clemson University Fire & EMS Department (CUFD) reminds us to do our part to help prevent wildfires. Several University faculty and staff celebrated service milestones this month, the mammography bus returns to main campus in April and more.

What to know today:

Portions of South Carolina have been and continue to be impacted by wildfires due to windy conditions and low relative humidity. The Clemson University Fire & EMS Department (CUFD) reminds members of the Clemson community to “think before you burn” and do your part to help prevent wildfires.

Several faculty and staff celebrated service milestones of at least 10 years in March, including Dan Anderson from the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences and Paula Porter from the Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging and Access, who both reached 20 years this year.

Since being named program coordinator of the Clemson Cooperative Extension Service’s South Carolina Master Naturalist Program last fall, Mallory Maher (pictured center) has embraced her new position, where she oversees six host sites across the state – Upstate, Catawba, Midlands, Winyah, Charleston and Lowcountry.

English Language Programs kicked off its Conversation Pairs program for the Spring semester with its semi-annual welcome meeting at the Barnes Center, welcoming a crowd of more than 50 students and emeriti faculty.

INSIDE THE COLLEGE

The Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business started a new LinkedIn series called "Inside the College," where a faculty or staff member shares more about their role. The first edition features Lisa Bundrick, director of career engagement for the College. Bundrick explains how she helps students navigate their career paths, connect with employers and how Clemson powers business.

MORE FROM TIGERTOWN

On April 9, in collaboration with Clemson Rural Health, Prisma Health’s mammography bus will be stationed outside of Edwards Hall to provide breast cancer screenings for faculty and staff. Clemson Rural Health staff will also provide cervical and colorectal cancer screenings as indicated by a patient’s health history. The appointment deadline is March 26.

A section of Lake Drive by the Nieri Family Alumni and Visitors Center will be closed March 17-21. A gravel cart path will be laid to detour around the closure. The temporary Walker Course clubhouse parking lot will also be closed for paving during this time. Visitors should plan to use the new parking lot in front of the Nieri Alumni and Visitor Center as an alternative.
