Bachelor of Integrative Studies (BIS)
New Hours:  In an effort to be more student friendly, the BIS office is open until 7:00pm on Tuesdays.

Articulation Agreements: This summer, Macomb Community College signed an agreement with OU to allow students with an Associate’s Degree to transfer up to 88 credits into the BIS major. Oakland Community College students will have the same agreement in the near future.

Service Learning:  The BIS capstone course continues to show a deep commitment to giving back to the community as students have given over 1,400 hours to the community over the summer and fall semester!

Collge of Arts and Sciences (CAS)
CAS Advantage:  The CAS Advantage identifies the knowledge and skills gained generally from a liberal arts degree, but applied specifically to courses, majors and minors.  It consists of eight areas defined by employers and graduate programs as the skill & knowledge areas they are looking for in competitive applicants.
FLAGs: CAS will use FLAGs (Fundamental Learning, Achievements and Goals) to structure tracking and reflection in these eight areas for our undergraduate students. This launch is a culmination of work by CAS advising, faculty, Career Services and the First Year Advising Center.

School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) & School of Education and Human Services (SEHS): NACADA Assessment Project
In Summer 2019, SECS and SEHS partnered to assess the outcomes of Transfer Student Orientations.
Advisers identified 10 student learning outcomes, determined how outcomes should be introduced, explained, and reviewed, and then ultimately assessed student perception of learning outcome achievement after the appointment.
Three goals were achieved with this project:
  • Engaged two advising teams in the phases of the NACADA Assessment process
  • Improved consistency across all Transfer Student Orientation appointments
  • Collected feedback from transfer students about their learning experience at orientation
School of Education and Human Services (SEHS)
In October SEHS Advisers visited community college counselors at the OCC Southfield and Royal Oak campuses as well as the Saint Clair County Community College to help promote our Human Resource Development and Education programs.
