In honor of the National Park Service's 110th birthday, join Oregon Parks Forever and Best Oregon Tours for a guided day trip to Crater Lake, Oregon's only national park.

There are two small-group departures from Eugene: Monday, September 14 and Friday, September 18, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Transportation from/to Portland is available by special request, at an additional charge. Leave the car at home and spend the day taking in the country's deepest, bluest lake. September is one of the best months to experience Crater Lake in all its splendor.

Your local guide leads the way along Rim Drive to the park's most stunning overlooks. You'll have time to visit the Historic Crater Lake Lodge (1915), walk the rim trails, learn the geologic story behind the caldera, and soak in views that no photograph ever quite captures. National Park Week 2026 Celebrates America’s Story 
In 2026, National Park Week will be celebrated from August 22 to 30, with National Park Service's 110th Birthday celebrated on August 25. On this birthday, entrance fees will be waived for all U.S. citizens and residents at parks that normally charge.

For US residents, the next upcoming National Parks Fee Free Days are August 25: 110th Birthday of the National Park Service and September 17: Constitution Day. 

Always Free: Keep in mind that about 300 of the 400+ National Park Service sites are already free to enter every day of the year. 

Hey 4th Graders – You and your family get free access to hundreds of National parks, lands, and waters for an entire year. Check it out, fill out the form, and bring along the family, and take a trip this summer.

We are pleased to announce the opening of a fantastic new Hiker-Biker campsite at Harbor Vista Park, outside Florence, OR. Just finished at the beginning of August, it has all the amenities: bike lockers, 7 camp sites, a bike fix-it station, a bike rack at each camp site, benches, smaller picnic tables, and a fire pit.

This park offers year-round camping with 45 RV sites (full hookup and water/electric), three cozy cabins, and a small day-use area featuring swings, an open field, a webcam overlooking the mouth of the Siuslaw River, and a scenic viewing platform with sweeping views of the river and Pacific Ocean.

Oregon's parks and trails could use a little love too. Our friends at Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) have a full calendar of volunteer opportunities. Their trail parties are open to everyone – no experience required. Browse the events calendar to find and sign up for stewardship events. If you’re looking to build your skills, check out Trailkeepers University for great training opportunities. A couple of events caught our eye:

Ancient Forest Preserve Trail Party – PDX August 18 Join a small group from TKO building a new segment of the Ancient Forest Preserve Trail using hand tools. The party will remove brush with loppers and saws, remove organic material with rakes and McLeods, and cut in the tread with picks, grubbers, and shovels.

Rogue River Walk Trail Party – South Coast - August 28
For this one TKO and volunteers will continue repairing the Orchard Bar section of the Rogue River Walk. We will use power and hand tools to remove vegetation from the trail corridor, dig trail tread, and remove logs across the trail.
