We want to remind you of the guidelines for students and employees (including student employees) pertaining to isolating, quarantining, or otherwise being restricted from NYU academic and administrative facilities per the order of the COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team (CPRT).
When to Stay Home
Employees and students are instructed not to enter academic or administrative (ie, non-residential) NYU buildings if they:
- fail the Daily Screener
- receive a positive COVID-19 test
- are deemed a close contact of someone with COVID-19
- experience symptoms of COVID-19, and/or
- return to New York after spending time in a restricted state or country.
Individuals who meet any of these criteria should promptly notify the COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team via
this self-report form. They will likely be directed to stay home and isolate or quarantine.
When and How to Return to Campus
All members of the NYU community who fail the Daily Screener and/or are required to quarantine or isolate may resume normal activities at NYU only after receiving written clearance from the CPRT. Once cleared by the CPRT, members of the NYU community will regain access to the Daily Screener and to the NYU buildings and facilities where they work and study.
Important Related Guidance
- Only the CPRT can clear students or employees to return to campus following a failed Daily Screener, a positive COVID-19 test, close contact with someone with COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19, and/or after spending time in a restricted location. No other members of the community (including an employee’s supervisor) can change the quarantine and isolation period or direct an employee (including student employees) or student to take additional COVID-19 tests as a requirement to return to work.
- No one may demand to know another NYU community member’s personal health information such as one’s COVID-19 status or request the result of COVID-19 testing. If you become aware of an employee’s or student’s COVID-19 status, you may not communicate this status with other employees or students, other than with the CPRT.
- No additional COVID-19 safety precautions are required for those cleared to return to campus unless explicitly directed by the CPRT.
