Walsh University Announces Retirement of Dr. Michael Dunphy, Vice President for Academic Affairs |
Walsh University announces the upcoming retirement of longtime professor and administrator Dr. Michael Dunphy, Vice President for Academic Affairs, at the conclusion of the 2025–26 academic year. While stepping down from his administrative role, Dr. Dunphy will remain engaged with the University through collaborative research within the Division of Mathematics and Sciences.
As a full professor since 1995, Dr. Dunphy has made enduring contributions to research and academic development. He helped establish Walsh’s Skilled Technical Workforce (STWF) initiative, which equips students and professionals with essential skills for technology-driven industries, and secured $1.2 million in Shimadzu analytical equipment to enhance research and teaching capabilities. His research in analytical biochemistry and biotechnology—particularly in nitric oxide biochemistry and bioactive molecule analysis—has been featured in national conferences and publications. He has also partnered with Abbott Laboratories on innovative projects involving biomarker testing, diagnostic assay validation, and biotechnological instrumentation. | Read More

9/11 Survivor Genelle Guzman-McMillan Rescheduled for Dec. 2 |
After an unexpected cancellation, Walsh University is pleased to announce that the presentation featuring Genelle Guzman-McMillan has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cecchini Center Auxiliary Gym. Cav Nation will now have the opportunity to hear directly from the last person pulled alive from the World Trade Center rubble on September 11, 2001. Trapped for 27 hours before her miraculous rescue, Genelle shares an inspiring testimony of faith, resilience, and hope. Following her presentation, guests are invited to a reception and book signing for her memoir, Angel in the Rubble.

ACES 2025: A Celebration of Student and Faculty Achievement |
This year’s ACES (Academic Celebration of Excellence Symposium) will take place on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Toot Global Learning Center. The Symposium highlights the scholarly achievements of both students and faculty across all areas of academics, including research, scholarship, class projects, and service-learning experiences. Faculty interested in showcasing their work at ACES, or encouraging their students to participate, are encouraged to email cape@walsh.edu by Friday, Nov. 7, to indicate preliminary interest and provide an estimated number of posters, participants, and associated classes.

Walsh University Welcomes Tim Montgomery as Director of Marketing |

Tim Montgomery has been appointed as Director of Marketing. Bringing nearly a decade of professional marketing experience, he will report to the Vice President for Marketing & Communications/Chief Public Affairs Officer. In this role, Montgomery will oversee the planning, execution, tracking, and analysis of university-wide marketing, advertising, and social media initiatives. He will also serve as the University’s primary media buyer and project manager for marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers, special event promotion, online initiatives, and sponsorship marketing. | Read More

Personal Protection Class, Nov. 1 |
Register today for a Personal Protection Class hosted at Walsh University by Not For Sale: One Step At A Time, led by Dr. Michael Dunphy on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon at The Birk Center for the Arts. Learn essential self-defense techniques and safety strategies designed to help you stay aware, confident, and prepared in any situation. This hands-on session will include practical exercises and guidance from an experienced instructor. No prior skills are required. The class is open to the public and recommended for individuals ages 12 and older (participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian). Cost: $20 per person. | Register Here
