Graduation Update
June 5, 2020
Dear Eighth Grade Families,
Puzzles, signs, weekly tributes to the Class of 2020! Your soon to be graduates are being honored in so many varied ways. Now, let’s honor them again by awarding them their diplomas.
The administrative team and I continue to revisit the previously proposed plan and dates as we monitor the Governor’s social distance mandates for Richmond City, of which the St. Michael’s Campus is a part. Once again, we find we must pivot from the previous plan to be in the Ellen Passmore Singleton Athletic Center (gym) to one that complies with gatherings not exceeding 10. Given guidelines, re-opening phases, and the number of people permitted to gather, we have concluded that June 23 and June 24 are our dates.
On the evening of June 23, we will deliver a virtual graduation ceremony and on June 24 we will confer diplomas, one at a time, on campus (outdoors), and in keeping with social distancing guidelines. At this point, plans include graduates arriving alphabetically at predetermined morning or afternoon times. Each graduate and no more than 5 additional guests is to arrive in one car, if at all possible. A short diploma ceremony will take place on the Green, and a photographer will be on hand to capture this special moment. More details including final logistics, alphabetically arranged time slots assigned to the individual graduates, and parking instructions are forthcoming. We encourage appropriate graduation attire.
We will move swiftly to finalize these plans. We are incredibly proud of our soon to be graduates and look forward to these final opportunities to honor them.
Sincerely,
Robert E. Gregg III
