| We are just 4 months away from camp! What? Yea, 4 months. We have so much to do to get ready for camp.
-
We still have program staff, maintenance staff, and kitchen staff to hire.
- Deliver books & church packets
- Meet with Event Coordinators
- Recruit faculty for weeks of camp
- We have some issues with our dive tank to work out.
-
Grounds to prep
- Low ropes to maintain
- Fishing poles to prep
- Pond maintenance
- Picnic tables to repair
- Playground to mulch
- Missionary to prepare
That is the short list for getting the camp ready.
Why do we do all of this?
For changed lives! After 15 years of serving here, I still get very excited about camp starting. I absolutly LOVE camp. Why? Because Church Camp is EXCITING!!! ! But, even more importantly, Church Camp profoundly impacts spiritually and relationally campers lives.
I am so thankful for Hanging Rock and for the incredible leaders who help make Camp happen. Overall, I think about how God shows up during every week and how He impacts generations through Summer Camp.

The camp committee and the board have been working on some changes for Summer Camp 2023 and wanted to start preparing you for these changes and updates:
1. Camp Fees: We will be increasing our camp fees. With all of the increases in staffing, food, fuel, electricity, waste treatment plant and much more, we have no choice but to raise the cost of camp. We are raising fees $30.00 for camp sessions that are 4 days or more and $10.00 for camps of 3 days or less.
2. Check-Out Time: We are going to a 4:00 p.m. check out time. With having more camp sessions back to back the staff needs more time to make sure facilities are prepared for the next campers. This means that if your child is getting baptized we will invite you and your family to come at 3:00p.m. so that all campers can be a part of that celebration, then we will have all of the campers return to the gym for check out.
3. More staff: We will be hiring more staff this year. We increased our summer program staff to 12 last year to give camp sessions some of the staff for faculty. This was good, but then left our staff short for recreation and cleaning. So the plan for this year, is for every dorm to have 2 dorm RA's giving us 16 summer program staff. We still need volunteers to help as faculty and for kitchen and facilities.
4. Theme: The Great Expectation, Romans 8:28 - Let God Define the Good.
We are really excited about this theme. We know our kids are coming to camp with more burdens and anxiety about life. We want to help them see that because we love God, He will work all things for the good of those who love him.

2023 Fundraiser Goals
The board has been working out the details of what is next on the list for fundraising goals here at Hanging Rock to help continue to improve the facilties.
The first project we are going to raise money for is new flooring in the gym and classrooms. That building was built in 2002 and has orginal flooring. It's time. We are also going to work on our dining room floor, by stripping, sanding, waxing and adding an epoxy coating. The total cost of these three areas is $34,000. Our hope is to have this raised by the Fall, so we can have this finished by the 2024 season.
The second project we are looking at is the roof over the horse arena at horse camp. We have recieved some bids. They all have come back over $100,000. WOW!!! We were shocked. So, at this moment we are putting this on hold while we do some more research.
We have 4 Fundraisers we are working on:
Pancake Breakfast - April 15th 8am-11am
Golf Scramble - June 24th
Fish Fry - August 23rd
Fundraiser Banquet - December 9th

| Hilton Project - Fully Funded |
We are excited to see the progress on the Hanging Rock Hilton. We are praying everyone remains patient with us as we are in the construction phase.
We know everyone will be happy to have private bathrooms in each bedroom and a meeting space in the building as well.
We do expect to need some volunteers to help accomplish this project. We will be doing demo on the current bathrooms soon. We hope we can do that during a 413ers day. But stay tuned for updates to this building.

| Here is an update of what positions we need for Summer Camp 2023. 3 dish washers - Must be at least 14 and have transportation to and from camp.
2- Girl Program Staff - Must be at least 18 y/o- $300 per week 2 - Guy Program staff - Must be at least 18 y/o- $300 per week 1- Maintenance Assistant - Must have a driver's license- $275 a week. Monday - Thursday. 8:30-4:30pm and Friday 8-Noon.
We need 1 cooks - Pay is $15.00 per hour.

We are excited to announce we have hired Kristen Mahoy Isdell as our facilities coordinater on a part-time basis. We call her Kris. She is very familiar with Hanging Rock. This is the camp she grew up coming to and also for the last couple years has been serving as one of our retreat cooks. She is also married to our Building & Grounds Coordinator Casey. Welcome to the team Kris.
Kris will be making sure all of our buildings are clean and ready for our guests. We are excited to have her on our team.
