On Monday, October 3, at 3:39 p.m., the Department of Campus Safety received a report of an attempted robbery that occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. outside of the Chipotle at 1 MetroTech, in Brooklyn.
The victim, an NYU student, reported that they were walking past the Chipotle when a group of about ten teenagers approached them. One of the teenagers said "give me your earpods" and started hitting the student. The student fell down and about six or seven of the other teenagers began kicking them. The assault was broken up by NYPD.
No weapons were used and the victim was left with a swollen eye and nose. EMS examined the victim but did not take them to the hospital. The victim filed a report with NYPD.
Description of Reported Offenders: The victim described the group of teenagers as male-presenting, having dark-complexions and being 16 to 17 years old. The teenager who demanded the earpods was wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing.
