THIS WEEKEND ON OUR STAGE
Do you have a secret graffiti yen? Now's your chance! Volunteers will be gathering at CT tomorrow morning (Saturday May 30) at 10:30 am to put the finishing touches on our Proof set. Volunteer carpenters will be completing the back porch roof on our set and volunteer graffiti artists will be inscribing mathematical formulas all over the fence that encircles the stage. (Our stage is being converted into a back yard for this production.) New volunteers are always welcome, so come join the fun!
REAL, ORDINARY WOMEN WANTED
Auditions this weekend!
We're looking for nine women who want to help history come alive on our stage this August. Quilters, our August production, is based on the diaries and letters of real American pioneer women who survived and thrived amidst the strenuous realities of 1800s frontier life.
The production requires nine women to play a mother (70+ years old) and her 8 grown daughters (20-50 years old). No prior stage experience is necessary to audition (director Eliza Roaring Springs is great with beginners!) — and you don't even need to know how to sew! (But those cast may get a quilting lesson or two from a real quilter along the way to opening night.)
Read more about these auditions here. We hope you'll consider giving this a try (or sending along a remarkable, ordinary woman you know.)

Audition Dates:
Saturday May 30, 1:00 pm
Sunday May 31, 6:30 pm
(come to whichever day you'd prefer)

Production Dates:
August 14 - 30
PROOF OPENS JUNE 12 ON OUR STAGE
We're getting very excited about the upcoming opening of Proof by David Auburn, which won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama (and gained further acclaim through the 2005 film adaptation starring Gwyneth Paltrow.) Our director Alan Beck and our cast of four (two of whom were on stage in Les Misérables last month) are having a wonderful time bringing this remarkable script to life.
About this play: On the eve of her 25th birthday, Catherine, a troubled young woman, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former graduate student of her father's from the University of Chicago who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father's madness—or genius—will she inherit?
