Drake introduces new compliance and risk management program
Drake Law School and the College of Business and Public Administration are offering a new compliance and risk management program that includes a professional certificate, MJ degree, and LLM degree. Courses are scheduled to accommodate working professionals. Applications are being accepted for fall 2017.
Drake Law students help secure commutation for inmate
Thanks to the work of Drake Law students, one man’s life sentence has been commuted to 30 years. Professor Angela Campbell assigned students in her Federal Criminal Law course to draft a clemency application for the inmate, who was serving life without parole for a drug offense. The application was granted by President Obama in early January.
Drake to update Sustainable Community Development Code
Drake Law School is part of a joint project to update the Sustainable Community Development Code, which provides local governments nationwide with up-to-date land use standards to promote sustainable development. Co-led by Professor Jonathan Rosenbloom, Drake Law students will be able to work on the project as part of their coursework.
80th Annual Supreme Court Celebration is March 30-April 1
Don’t miss the annual Supreme Court Celebration! Events will honor the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law, Drake Law Review, SBA, and Moot Court before concluding with the Supreme Court Celebration Banquet on April 1. The Hon. Solomon Oliver Jr., chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, will serve as keynote speaker, and award winners will be recognized. RSVP now.

Drake 3L uses personal experience to advocate for children
When Shannon Bogolin was 16 years old, she became a Child In Need of Assistance (CINA) and was placed in independent living in Des Moines. Now more than two decades later, she is getting her law degree to fulfill her dream of being an advocate for juveniles.
Drake Law alumnus’ career path leads him to Silicon Valley
Phillip Maroc, LW'92, found his calling working for Silicon Valley technology companies. He is now senior legal counsel at Adobe Systems Inc., a multinational computer software company headquartered in San Jose, Calif., that has created well-known products such as Photoshop and Acrobat.
Professor Kende provides expertise in constitutional law
As director of the Drake Constitutional Law Center, Professor Mark Kende is frequently asked about current constitutional law and civil rights issues by local media as well as national publications such as Fortune Magazine, USA Today, and The Washington Post.
