Psalm 73:25-26
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
    and my portion forever.

New International Version (NIV)
You are not so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good.  How do I know?  You can’t be.  I know the expression and I know what we mean by it.  But to be truly heavenly minded will make you all kinds of “earthly good.”    The Psalmist reminds us that God’s goodness really is enough for us.  Psalm 73:23-24 tell us the Psalmist not only knows that God is with him, but he is consciously choosing to be with God.    God holds us, guides us and takes us into glory.
“Whom have I in heaven but you?”  Some of us have almost as many friends in heaven as on earth.  Like John Jasper who imagined when he got to heaven saying, “I can wait to see Moses, Abraham and David.  Take me to the throne and let me see Jesus!”  Not only is God the best thing about heaven.  God is the greatest desire we can have on earth.
Recent natural disasters confirm everything in this world is temporary except God.  We will someday lose our health.  But God will always be our strength and our portion.   C. S. Lewis once wrote that the people who do the most earthly good are inevitably those who are most heavenly minded.  William Wilberforce comes to mind.  Today, let’s “set our hearts and our minds above on Jesus” and watch what he does through us here.
Pray with me:
Father, help us to lean our elbows on the windowsill of heaven today.  Show us our Savior.  Remind us of his perfect love for us.  Then with a vision of him in our hearts, help us to do everything you want us to do today.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
