Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

"If you're worried and you can't sleep, count your blessings instead of sheep . . ."  A new study says that thinking of waterfalls helps us to sleep even better than counting sheep.  To be sure, when peace eludes us we need to think different thoughts.

Focus today on all that God has done.  In an ignoble world, God is noble.  In a world where wrong seems to prevail, right will win.  The impure, ugly and worst in our world clamor for our attention.  But in Christ we take our thoughts captive and think about the pure, lovely and admirable, the excellent and the praiseworthy. 

Paul promised the peace of God to those who pray with thanksgiving.  We cannot have the peace of God without receiving the God of peace.  When we think about the best things that God has given us, we discover that the God of peace covers us in his grace and gives us rest. 
 Pray with me:  
Father, say to our souls again that our hope comes from you alone.  Let us not waste another moment crying about what the world has come to.  Help us to lift our eyes and declare that Christ has come into the world.  Cover us with your peace today, we pray.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
