Hi Neighbor!

I was eating toast the other day, specifically the end piece (aka the heel, the butt, the nose, the-nobody-wants-you piece) and I thought about how, when I was a kid, my mother always took that piece saying it was her favorite. We all believed her. But, it dawned on me, as I tried to improve the crust with a healthy slather of butter and jam, that she was probably lying! She sacrificed the inner, moist pieces for us and took the dry, crusty remnants. That’s what Moms do. They take the bullet for their kids in the little day-to-day moments, like surrendering a piece of toast. Mother’s Day is over, but I feel compelled to share my list of 10 things moms do (without even realizing it):

1. Get barfed on by babies and take it in stride.
2. Hug, kiss, high-five every goal scored, basket made, great play, perfect pitch.
3. Ooo and aaa over artwork, hanging it on the fridge and sometimes even framing it.
4. Nurse boo boos, bruises, cuts, scrapes, and sores.
5. Drive for endless hours to take/pick up kids to/from after school activities.
6. Schedule hundreds of doctors’ appointments.
7. Serve dinner…and lunch…and breakfast…every day.
8. Bring to school any forgotten things like homework, sneakers, uniforms, books, etc.
9. Lose lots of sleep worrying about kids, all ages from toddlers to young adults.
10. Absorb unknown anger caused by puberty.
…and, of course, provide unconditional love…forever! (ok... so 11 things!)

Let's celebrate Moms every day!
Beth
P.S. - I didn't forget about Dads!  I'll share my list for them in June!
