Happy Little Run...for fun...and for the trees
|
Dear Friend,
We want you to know about a fun event coming up for our members and friends. A fun run, anytime, anyplace with your friends make a team.
Oregon Parks Forever is a sponsor for a virtual 5K race, inspired by American painter and PBS television personality Bob Ross’ love of the outdoors, to help plant trees in parks & forests. Registration is now open for the 2024 Run for the Trees/Happy Little (Virtual) 5K.
Participants can run, walk, hike, or roll to complete their 5K anywhere outdoors, anytime between Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 28). Runners are encouraged to register by March 1, to ensure that your race swag arrives before the event week. Registration will close on April 1.
For $36 per person, each participant will receive a keepsake Happy Little T-shirt, a commemorative bib number and a finisher’s medal. All Oregon race proceeds support our tree planting and forest protection efforts in Oregon parks.

Help land recover from fires and improve parks
From Tillamook Forest to Collier State Park, and many other parks and trails in between, we funded the replanting of 804,000 trees in places devastated by wildfires. Please help us replant a MILLION trees to ensure that in the future, these burned areas will once again be lush and green!
In conjunction with the wildfire fund, we held the inaugural work session of We Care For Parks last fall. In the pouring rain, over 50 volunteers helped build trails, move gravel, and pick up trash to beautify and restore Minto Park. Stay tuned, we plan another volunteer event this spring.
