Limelight Series: Jewish American Heritage Month 

Join East City Bookshop and Federation partner, GatherDC, in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month. Hear from a panel of authors about their approach to writing fantasy based on Jewish folklore. Panelists include authors Sacha Lamb (When the Angels Left the Old Country), Rebecca Podos (The Mystery of Hollow Places and Like Water), and Aden Polydoros (The City of Beautiful), moderated by Stonewall Honor Award-winner Jake Maia Arlow.

Exit West Pop-Up Refugee Book Club 

Take a deep dive into the story of two refugees fleeing war in Mohsin Hamid's novel, Exit West, and enjoy drinks and conversation with Federation partner, Edlavitch DCJCC. The first meeting will cover a halfway point of the book, and an end-of-book discussion will take place on June 22^nd.

Federation, our Jewish Community Foundation, and our partners, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), Anti-Defamation League (ADL), American Jewish Committee (AJC), and Secure Community Network (SCN), are working to combat hatred and continue to secure our community for the long-term. In March 2023, Federation’s Board approved an initial $2 million in funding to combat antisemitism over the next three years: an important step in a large-scale initiative.
