Peers recognize Dr. Ali Dhinojwala’s research efforts in adhesion
Dr. Ali Dhinojwala has been announced as the recipient of the 2020 Adhesion Society’s Award for Excellence in Adhesion Science sponsored by 3M. This is the organization’s premier award for “outstanding achievements in scientific research relating to adhesion.”
Dhinojwala, who joined UA in 1997, is the interim dean of the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering and the H.A. Morton Professor of Polymer Science. In addition, he has served as the co-principal investigator of the Biomimicry Research Innovation Center here on campus since its inception in 2011.Read More
Agreement with Le Mans Université yields new opportunities for students and faculty
The president of Le Mans Université, Rachid El Guerjouma, traveled from France to visit UA and formally strengthen the existing relationship between our institutions.
While here, El Guerjouma and Rex Ramsier, executive vice president/chief administrative officer, signed a student exchange agreement between UA and Le Mans Université. They also discussed current collaborations and potential new initiatives with faculty and staff from several disciplines, including engineering, arts and sciences, polymer science and polymer engineering, law, and the health professions.Read More
Polymer Outreach hosts Science Olympiad and hundreds of local students
Five-hundred fifty students and forty-four teams: the Akron Regional Science Olympiad hosted by the Akron Global Polymer Academy is a scientific competition that challenges young students to use their teamwork and ingenuity, all while having fun in the name of science! On March 9, 2019, students from dozens of local middle and high schools gathered at The University of Akron’s campus to compete in team events and have an opportunity to qualify for The Ohio State Tournament in April.Read More
