DIRECTOR'S NOTE

The heat is on in Oklahoma and it’s only the beginning of summer!
Last month, The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) traveled to Los Angeles to promote Oklahoma locations and the Film Enhancement Rebate Program at the The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Locations and Global Finance Show. I had the opportunity to join fellow film commissioners from around the globe on a panel which allowed me to share the details of our incentive program. Our office also participated on panels at film festivals around the state, including Native Crossroads, Clean Shorts and Bison Bison.
Additionally, we welcomed singer/songwriter Zac Maloy and a few Nashville songwriters to town to mentor and work with Oklahoma musicians for three days at the Oklahoma Songwriters Festival. The festival concluded with an outstanding songwriters showcase at ACM@UCO's Performance Lab. Hats off to all of our other music community partners, including Norman Music Festival, ACM@UCO's Metro Festival and Gypsy Café, for presenting some incredible Oklahoma music!
Currently, seven feature films are active in our rebate queue, including "Rust", who wraps May 15 and "Stillwater", who commences photography May 16. If you've been watching the news, you've heard the buzz about some “ninjas” loose at our State Capitol. Additionally, some “gods” will be coming into town in a few weeks, so scroll down to read more about the three upcoming television projects. Stay connected and we look forward to seeing you at a film or music event this summer!

Another Great Year in Los Angeles for OF+MO
OF+MO participated in The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Locations & Global Finance Show held at the Marriott Burbank Convention Center from April 21 – April 23 in Burbank, CA. Over the course of three days, OF+MO promoted Oklahoma's film incentive program and locations to the international audience of filmmakers in attendance. In addition to conference participation, OF+MO hosted the 2nd Annual Okie Roundup at the Dan Eldon Center for Creative Activism in Malibu where we had the opportunity to network with many talented Oklahomans working in the film, television and music industries in Los Angeles. Our office was able to showcase all of the exciting developments in Oklahoma’s industry back home and recruit expatriates for the Oklahoma Production Guide. OF+MO would like to thank our musician for the event, Amanda Martindale, our hosting venue the Dan Eldon Center and our event sponsor Gerson Capital.

FEATURED ARTIST'S OF THE MONTH
FILM: Scott Swearingen
“For a long time, I worked alone or with my wife or one or two people, but with the Marland [documentary], I began to see the story was simply too big. There is a wealth of production talent and younger videographers, graphic artists and editors in Tulsa. I discovered that the necessity of collaboration became the best of all worlds.”

MUSIC: Grazzhopper
“We strive to create a festive atmosphere. Something you can dance to, but also dive into the depth of the lyrical content. It’s a live experience that’s going to be different every time you come and see it. I strive to put on more than just a show every time.”
