Georgia Tech Police Department Achieves Fourth CALEA Accreditation |
The Georgia Tech Police Department (GTPD) recently received its fourth accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). This prestigious accreditation signifies GTPD's commitment to meeting the highest professional standards in public safety.

A&F Announces New Leadership Roles |
This week, Dr. Shantay N. Bolton, executive vice president for Administration and Finance and chief business officer, shared several leadership announcements for Administration and Finance.
Jarmon DeSadier has been selected as the vice president for the Office of Equal Opportunity, Compliance, and Conflict Management. Also, Jim Stephens has been selected as the next vice president for Infrastructure and Sustainability. Both have served the Institute in interim roles since earlier this year and will begin their new permanent roles on Sept.1.
In addition, Stacy Whitman, director of Customer Service Excellence for the Administrative Services Center (ASC), has been selected as the new executive director for the ASC. She will transition to her new role on Sept. 9.

A Sustainable Solution to Food Waste and Hunger on Campus |
Georgia Tech is excited to announce the launch of Green Forks, a pioneering program aimed at tackling both food waste and student hunger on campus. Green Forks offers a simple yet impactful solution: event organizers can now easily share their catering leftovers to help divert food waste and provide meals to students facing food insecurity.

Put Your Skills to the Test at the Southeastern Cyber Cup |
The Office of Information Technology Cyber Security department presents the 2024 Southeastern Cyber Cup competition. Sponsored by Deloitte, the Cyber Cup is a national-level, higher education cyber competition with the purpose of generating cybersecurity awareness. The competition is open to professionals and students across the University System of Georgia with an interest in cybersecurity and IT.
This year’s competition will feature three virtual rounds: Sept. 19 and 26, and Oct. 4.
Register for the Southeastern Cyber Cup by 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 17.

At the August A&F Hybrid Town Hall, Dr. Bolton kicked off the start of 2024-2025 academic year with an update on the Institute Strategic Plan including key areas of focus for A&F. Several A&F leaders shared how their teams are leading by example and cultivating wellbeing. They discussed prioritizing sustainability, preparing for the unified enterprise resource planning system, and demonstrating the Institute’s commitment to fostering a working and learning environment where everyone’s contribution is recognized and valued.

Office of Sustainability Submits Inaugural Report for Atlanta's Commercial Buildings Energy Efficiency Ordinance |
In August, the Office of Sustainability submitted campus energy efficiency data to the City of Atlanta for the first time in compliance with the city’s Commercial Buildings Energy Efficiency Ordinance, which requires public reporting of energy consumption in buildings over 25,000 square feet. As a state institution, Georgia Tech has historically been exempted from participating in the program. The voluntary decision to participate this year aims to increase data transparency and support energy efficiency initiatives on and off campus.
