A Message from the Director

Let's Go For the Gold!

On June 22, 2017 Child Care Aware of America launched a new Child Care State Licensing Database. This innovative tool uses data from state licensing manuals and provides an analysis on how each state measures up to child care regulatory policies from Caring for Our Children Basics: Health and Safety Foundations for Early Care and Education, considered to be the gold standard for childcare practices. Click here to continue reading.

News from the Registrars

Professional Development Opportunities

In January, we started providing Training Reward Cards. Remember to bring your card with you to each training you attend in order to receive your stamp. Once you receive 5 stamps, you will receive a voucher for a FREE training, good for up to 6 months from date of issue. We have had several people redeem their free training. Good for you! Keep coming and earn that free training! Remember, this is only valid on the regular Council 2-hour trainings. (This does not include Council Clusters, Parent Education Nights, MAT trainings, or First Aid/CPR classes.)

Subsidy News

In October of 2016 the State introduced a new application for Child Care Assistance to replace the standard Department of Social Services application. The standard application has 16 pages of information that is sometimes overwhelming to fill out for clients; the new application has 4 pages of questions directly relating to eligibility for Child Care Assistance. The client should find the application easier to navigate and be better at filling it out completely. An incomplete application increases the time for a new application or recertification to be approved.
The Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, Inc. works to promote affordable and quality child care, provide information and support to families, and strengthen the early childhood workforce in Dutchess and Putnam Counties.
