Comcast Money Matters - May 2013 Appearance
July 4th just passed and everyone in the USA knows this date, but when is your 'Financial Independence Day'? In fact, think about and write down your definition of financial independence because everyone does not have the same wants or needs. I am here to educate and assist in improving your credit in order to help you obtain {your definition HERE}.  :)
Please watch my first TV appearance on Comcast Money Matters. This video can be found on my TCW YouTube channel and I would love for you to subscribe and share with your network. I will be adding more videos in upcoming weeks to educate and inform you on credit issues.
Financial vs. Credit Issue
I pre-qualify all potential clients with 4 questions, but the first is the most important: Do you have income? For most people that means do you have employment. If you do not, you have a financial issue that is creating a credit issue and I cannot help you. However, I have a lot of resources and I would like to introduce you to PA CareerLinks. :)
Counseling, anyone?
Yep, you can do it yourself, but sometimes you need help. The resources at CareerLink are very varied, extensive and "free" to help you find employment. And there are many specific services to help veterans, re-entry citizens, those displaced by companies that went overseas, workshops, GED support and much more. Call 267-339-0333 to be directed to the correct resource to help you. If you are an employer and would like to find out about financial incentives to hire workers, please contact Brian Dandridge for more information.
We had our first of four meet ups in June. The feedback was awesome and everyone left with homework and an accountability partner to help get through it.
Our next meeting is mid-July and we will also be participating in the Urban League's Small Business Matters Entrepreneurs One Day Summit on Saturday, July 27th. This is a free event and you must call Tiffany Belton, 215-985-3220 x237 to register.
I had many opportunities to speak and network in June at workshops and conferences. I met some amazing people and wonderful business connections. But my favorite testimonial shared on  LinkedIn (see my profile) was from  Susan Evans when I spoke at the  Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation's monthly meeting: "The other night I heard Tara Colquitt, The Credit Woman speak. Incredibly inspirational and upbeat both in her speaking and personal interaction. Tara's knowledge is useful to those who might be having financial difficulties, as well as those looking to stay solvent." Thank you again Susan for this wonderful endorsement! I would also like to thank  Kelli Artis, Executive Director of the  African American Female Entrepreneurs' Alliance for the invitation.
If you would like a copy of a directory of Women Owned Businesses, just contact me. Or check out the List of Locations for you to pick up a copy in your neighborhood. I appreciate my network of friends and business associates for participating in 'distribution'. It is great to meet other women business owners in the directory. If you would like information regarding advertising in the book, contact Founder, Ellen Fisher.  WYP Cover Girl
Income is Not the Issue?
Perhaps you should consider a lease purchase contract for a home. Many people find it difficullt to save for a home while renting. Check out this general article and if you are interested, I know a few real estate agents and investors who have inventory.
Ladies, the next meeting is Friday, July 19th and we hope to see you. Please click on the link above to register and for more information on PWBN if you are not a member.
