You will not want to miss this year's Mini-Maker Faire!  This 8th Annual event is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, & resourcefulness - something we all need more of!  This year’s weeklong hybrid event, lasting October 18 – 23, will celebrate makers, library makerspaces, & folks with a passion to learn new skills through interactive workshops, grab & geaux crafts, an outdoor maker market, a showcase of robotics excellence, and a celebration of terrible robots fighting sumo style!  How STEMified is that?  Want to learn more? Tulane Center for STEM

STEM Professional Development @ Tulane

The Tulane Center for K-12 STEM Education is hosting 2 great seminars!  Teachers participating in the October workshop will receive a $75 stipend upon completion of the PD. Teachers participating in the November workshop will receive a $100 stipend upon completion of the PD. Teachers must participate in all parts of the workshop to be eligible for the stipend! Space is limited and preference is given to teachers from majority free or reduced lunch schools and teachers already in the classroom.  The $20 deposit that will be refunded after completion.
OCTOBER 23rd (9-11am):  Improving STEM Classroom Instruction: Sharing Hands-on, Minds-on STEM Resources and Grant Writing Assistance.  Register 
NOVEMBER 13th (9-12): Using Phenonmena and Driving Questions to Foster Student's Engagement in Science. Register 
Learning Blade Pilot
Thanks to LASTEM, Boeing and Thinking Media - Schools can now sign up for their free pilot account to Learning Blade®, a collection of interactive and online project-based modules that teach about high-demand STEM, CTE and computer science careers. Designed for fifth to ninth graders, students can explore over 400 online STEM and computer science lessons through "Missions" exposing them to exciting careers and technologies. Teachers can access 100+ hours of materials that support project-based learning using common materials. Informational webinars:  Tuesday, October 19, 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 10 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 8 a.m.

Reimagine Schools - La Dept of Education GRANT
LDOE's Reimagine School Systems program is a $35 million grant encouraging school systems to create bold educational opportunities that improve student access to high-quality schools.  Applicants must select Reimagine School Actions (found to be successful across the country) to pursue during the planning and implementation stateges.  Learn more.  Deadline:12/16.
Academic Distinction Fund

Academic Distinction Fund GRANTS

The ADF Classroom and ADF Collaborative grants for the 2021-2022 academic year is now open for EBR Schools. The Fund promotes best practices in education, supports teachers in their work in two ways below.  Learn more and find grant applications here.
  • ADF Classroom Grant: $500 to $2,500 grants typically awarded to one teacher
  • ADF Collaboration Grant:  Up to $10,000 based on a collaboration between multiple teachers, multiple schools, or a nonprofit organization.
QSM Grant
Quality Science and Math Program Grants (QSM) & GRANT Writing Support (Deadline Extended)
Need math, science and STEM materials and equipment?  Apply for a QSM Grant - Funds established for the purpose of providing Louisiana public school teachers with non-consumable math, science, and STEM instructional materials and equipment.  VISIT LSU.EDU/QSM 
  • Grants of up to $1,000 are awarded to PK-3 teachers and $1500 to 4-12 teachers
  • Application Deadline: (DUE to Hurricane IDA - EXTENDED now Monday Nov 15).

EnergyCareers 2021 will showcase careers in energy for both immediate employment and those who want to explore options for the future. It will also educate influencers, those who guide career-seekers and students, so they, too, are aware of all we have to offer. Using a sophisticated virtual platform, EnergyCareers 2021 will offer insight into the breadth of energy sector career opportunities, benefits of working in the industry, next step guidance, connections with local employers, a career fair, and more. The event will kick off with a high-energy general session, with noted presenters, before attendees move to panel-hosted breakout sessions that will take a deeper dive into opportunities for minorities, women, veterans, career changers, and students. Join the LaSTEM Advisory Council and Regional STEM Centers, PK-12, postsecondary education, employers, and the community as they offer best practices for collaboration, engagement, and policymaking that will help grow a  STEM-strong Louisiana. The Summit will feature three moderated panels that will spotlight business and industry's need for STEM literacy and their commitment for growing STEM education, educators sharing STEM successful practices, a student spotlight and more.  Registration and call for presenters going live soon.
