Good morning! A Ph.D. student has earned one of the country's most prestigious AI fellowships. The 2026 holiday schedule is now available; Discover new books and puzzles at monthly Cooper Library swaps.

What to know today:

Stuti Garg, a Ph.D. student in the Nieri Department of Construction and Real Estate Development, has earned the Chishiki Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering Graduate Fellowship. The highly competitive fellowship is awarded to only five students across the U.S.

The 2026 holiday schedule is now available on the Office of Human Resources website. In accordance with state law, Clemson University will close on Election Day in 2026. To meet this requirement and maintain the customary five-day winter break, there will be no optional holiday in 2026.

Clemson's eighth annual Day of the Dead event is set for Friday, October 24, from 6-9 p.m. at the Carillon Garden. The free, family-friendly event will feature face painting, live music, food trucks and more.

Clemson’s Career Innovation Lab, founded by Maggie Erickson (right), empowers students for the AI-driven world. In partnership with Student Affairs and powered by UPIC interns, the lab provides a safe "sandbox" to develop digital literacy and custom GPT tools.

Having been selected as the newest Clemson University School of Health Research (CUSHR) Faculty Fellows, Kylie Rock and Jeoung Soo Lee will work closely with Prisma Health over the next year on advancements to hypertension management and treatment for neurological injuries.

Readers and puzzle lovers across campus can come together at Cooper Library’s monthly book and puzzle swap hosted by the Learning Commons. Swaps will take place October 27-31 and November 17-21. Swaps are open to all students, faculty and staff. No registration is required.

Benefits-eligible employees with Medical Spending Accounts (MSA), Limited Medical Spending Accounts (LMSA) or Dependent Care Spending Accounts (DCSA) are required to re-enroll during Open Enrollment each year to ensure contributions continue in the next plan year. You can carry over up to $660 in unused MSA or LMSA funds to 2026. Visit the 2025 Open Enrollment webpage for instructions on making any changes to your plan.
