From the Camp Director:

Happy New Year! Jennifer and I are excited to serve with you for another year. This will be our 15th summer as your camp director. We are so excited about doing ministry with Hanging Rock for another year. We appreciate everyone that has walked beside us in 2021 to make camp and retreats happen. Serving well over 5,000.

As we embark upon a New Year, once again, we find that we are still dealing with this Pandemic.

I don't know about you, but perhaps there was a sense of hope last year at this time that as we turned the page on 2021, this would all be behind us within a few months. But that's not the case despite man's best efforts of masks, vaccines, and mandates!

While humanity can only do what we can in our strength, I want to remind you today that God is still on the Throne regardless of where we have been or where we are going!

There is a wonderful verse of scripture which serves as a reminder of who God is, found in Revelation 22:13 (NKJV) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

While we cannot possibly know what the future holds, we know who holds the future!

This New Year will unfold as God has planned it to happen. We have been working on getting things ready for Summer Camp 2022. The theme, the missionaries, hiring summer staff, remodeling the girl's dorm, building a new zipline and so much more. I was telling our Intern, Caleb Dickey, that everything we do in the offseason is to prepare for summer camp. Even with the virus looming over us again, God is in control and we still plan and prepare.

There are many times I don't understand the ways of God, but that's really not something we should concern ourselves with. We must only trust Him!

Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV) 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.

Moving forward into this New Year, I want to encourage you to live your life to the glory of God. We can live our lives in boldness and assurance because God is on the Throne!

There's a beautiful song written by Bill Gaither many years ago, and the lyrics are as powerful today (maybe more so) as when they were written:

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know, yes I know, He holds the future.
This life is worth the living, just because He lives!

Keep God first in this New Year, and you will be amazed at the things God will do in you, through you, and for you!

House Of Eve Bathroom Project:

Becuse of your donations we are able to remodel the girl's dorm bathrooms. In order to be finished by the Ladies Overnight Retreat we will need some work groups to come and help build walls and tile. If you can help, you can reach out to Drew - drewfollmer@hangingrock.org or 765-585-2264

We are making progress but really need some help to get this finished in time. All bathrooms have been gutted, so all we need to do is start building walls and work on tiling and finish work.

Drew really needs some volunteers to help finish these by the end of January. So January 3rd-January 20th are work days. Please let him know if you can come and help finish the Girl's dorm bathrooms.

Now Hiring:

We have made some changes to one of the positions we are hiring for this summer. We usually hire 8 dorm RA'S 4 guys and 4 girls. We have decided to expand that number to 6 girls and 6 guys. Dorm RA'S are also going to be rotated in for paid faculty as well. If you are a dorm RA you will not have to start your day until 11am with staff meeting and devotions if you are a paid faculty you will get a room in the Hilton. We are hoping to give each camp session 2 guys and 2 girls to help with the week of camp. So if you know some really good college kids please have them get a hold of us or they can apply online.

Here is a list of all the staff we are looking to fill this next summer:

4 dishwashers - Must be 14 and have transportation to and from camp.
Breakfast Cook - Hours are 6am-10am and this pays $9.50 per hour.
College student Kitchen Assistant - $300 per week.
12 Dorm RA'S/Faculty - Must be 18. $300 per week.
2 Maintenance Assistants - Must have a driver's license $300 a week

Registration:

When registering for our Winter Retreats you cannot use discount codes because we no longer have access to the old registration system. We have set up a temporary registration system for Winter Retreats. We will have a new registration system by March 1st for summer camp that will allow for church discounts. Sorry for the inconvenience. You can go to our website www.hangingrock.org and click events to register for Winter Retreats.

Update:

2021 brought us a lot of committments and donations for our Great is Thy Faithfulness Campaign. To accomplish our BIG 3 projects of this campaign: Girl's Dorm Bathrooms, Re-Build Zipline, and add a bathroom to each 8 rooms in the Hilton and remodel current restrooms into meeting space we are needing to raise $200,000. Because of the generosity of our churches and individuals, we have raised $151,600. Thank you for your generosity!

So this next year we need to raise $48,200. If you would like to partner with us you can donate online. We will be doing some fundraisers this year to help finish raising money for these projects.

SUMMER CAMP 2022

Most of our camps have been updated on our website so you can mark your calendars for which camps you want to attend this year. The camp committee has come up with a GREAT theme for the year. Remember registration for summer camp starts on March 1st with a brand new registration system.

The camp committee worked really hard to come up with our theme for next year. We are so excited to be using the text Acts 2:42 to encourage all those that come to camp to be devoted. We are really going to work hard at encouraging our young people to be ALL IN with the Body of Christ. So get ready to be ALL IN in 2022!

Mission for Summer Camp 2020:

We are excited to partner with Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Virginia as our 2022 Summer Camp mission.

Mountain Mission School's mission is to stand as a refuge, resource, and relief for children in need by providing: A warm and loving home life that provides for daily needs accompanied by nurture and guidance from staff willing to care for children as if they were their own.

A few of the camp committee and Gary plan to make the trip in January to visit the mission and get them ready to be our missionaries.

Registration

Todd Blair's Ordination:

Join us at the Colfax Christian Church as they ordain Todd Blair into ministry. Ordination is on Sunday, January 9th at 6pm at the church. There will be a dinner afterwards and all are invited! Todd has served Hanging Rock for almost 5 years and is our Associate Director in charge of Food Service and Guest Service.
