Dignity Dialogues
Join us tonight, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m., in the Toot Global Learning Center for a riveting panel discussion featuring Walsh University faculty, staff and students who will reflect on human dignity in the classroom, in the lab and on the field. Special guest, Pastor Walter Moss, project director for the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV), will also share about his efforts in Stark County. Day of Service
Walsh University observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday with a day of service that included more than 250 students, faculty and staff connecting with the greater Stark County community by volunteering to serve on and off the Walsh campus throughout the day. Athletic teams, campus club members and individuals performed service activities that include hosting a Walsh Basketball clinic and serving at the YWCA Canton, House of Loreto, Stark Fresh, Refuge of Hope, SAM Center, Emmanuel Tabernacle and others. “Peggy’s Story” Draws Large, Engaged Audience
On Tuesday, nationally recognized victim advocate Debbie Riddle spoke to an audience of more than 150 students, faculty, staff and community members, shedding light on the topic of stalking as part of Human Dignity Week. According to Riddle, stalking is a pattern of behavior directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear. Riddle explained that stalkers use non-criminal behavior to induce fear, adding that tracking these behaviors to provide context is everything. She concluded with the story of her sister Peggy who endured years of emotional abuse, harassment, surveillance, threats and terrifying behaviors before she was murdered by her stalker.

Miracle in Manchester World Premiere
Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the world premiere of the critically acclaimed film Miracle at Manchester, featuring North Canton, Ohio, native Eddie McClintock, who directs and stars in the film. The Miracle at Manchester tells the true story of Brycen Newman, who at age 15 was diagnosed with a very aggressive and fast-growing brain cancer, and how a community comes together and leans on faith for a miracle, while two men find their own restoration in his healing journey. The premiere will take place at the Canton Palace Theatre on Sat., Feb. 4. Doors Open at 6:30 p.m., movie begins at 7:30 p.m. Following the movie screening a, live, in person, question and answer session will take place with Director Eddie McClintock and film writer, Jason Campbell moderated by Walsh University Vice President for Marketing and Communications Teresa Fox. A limited number of free tickets will be available for Walsh University students. Walsh University has been recognized as one of the best schools for online learning at the master’s level by OnlineMastersDegrees.org (OMD). Walsh’s programs earned top honors for overall quality, affordability and commitment to student success. To be eligible for ranking, a university must hold active regional accreditation and have at least one partially online master’s program in the ranking subject. Just 8 percent of U.S. postsecondary institutions earned a ranking position.

Don’t miss the Winter Concert Band performance at 7 p.m. in the GLC on Feb. 24. The performance will feature the Walsh Concert Band and Walsh World Music Ensemble. Music will include standard wind band literature and traditional music from Africa.
