2025 Small Business Program Participants Convene in Washington, DC |
In April, National CAPACD’s Small Business Program participants met for our 2025 Small Business District Stabilization Regional Convening in Washington, D.C. This two-day convening allowed 15 participants representing 10 organizations to learn from each other about how the different groups are supporting low-income AA and NHPI communities around issues of gentrification and displacement. Participants heard from Willow Lung-Amam, Director of the Small Business Anti-Displacement Network (SBAN), about commercial tenant protection strategies and took part in a discussion with National CAPACD’s Policy team about small business policy updates at the federal level.
BPSOS VA led participants on a tour of the Eden Center in Falls Church, VA, the largest Vietnamese commercial center on the East Coast, where they met with local small business owners. They also heard from Viet Place Collective about their work preserving the historic and cultural significance of the shopping center through their anti-displacement advocacy and organizing.
National CAPACD thanks TD Bank for sponsoring the convening.
