Five Statewide Awards

Santa Barbara City College’s Office of Communications was recently honored with five awards from the Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO), the official professional organization of the marketing and public affairs departments for the state’s 144 community colleges. The awards were presented at CCPRO’s Annual Conference, April 9-12 in San Diego.

Santa Barbara City College received the following PRO awards for the 2017-2018 school year:

First Place: Media Success
The college took on an unprecedented role in providing support to the campus community and local community affected by the Thomas Fire and Montecito Debris Flow disasters. SBCC provided crucial internal and external communications to get important emergency information to its campus and local communities.

Second Place: Social Media Marketing
SBCC was recognized for its focus on social media in its overall marketing strategy and use of creative advertising campaigns using high-quality images and captivating taglines.

Second Place: Social Media Management 
SBCC continued to increase its followers and engagement across each of its social media channels with high-quality, target-specific content, while informational posts about the college and community proved to be valuable resources for students and community members alike.

Second Place: Manipulated Photos
A talented SBCC student employee’s image of members from the campus ukulele club enjoying their practice on the west campus lawn perfectly captured the spirit of the college and its students.

Third Place: Newsletters
SBCC’s monthly internal newsletter “Cliff Notes” utilizes high-quality images and stellar curated content to report on campus happenings and share the stories of staff and faculty.
