***Special Report***
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled 5.6 million dehumidifiers in two separate, nationwide recalls. Brand-name dehumidifiers sold at retail have been RECALLED because of safety concerns.

These concerns are very real. Hundreds of units have caught fire and resulted in $24 million in damages to homes and are a threat to the families inside.*
Here's how you can help!
As the trusted HVAC expert, be sure to ask all of your customers if they have a portable dehumidifier in the home. If they do:

1. Check these websites for brands and model numbers that are affected: 2016 Recall2013 Recall

2. When you're in the home, notify homeowners of the recall and provide them with the website links or provide a list of the affected makes and models and offer to check their dehumidifier.

3. If you find an affected model, encourage the homeowner to confirm if their particular unit has been recalled and to leave it unplugged until they know if it is safe.

3A. Better yet, BE PROACTIVE! Check the listings yourself!

4. Offer them the better solution and provide them with comparisons of portable retail units versus Aprilaire whole-home units designed, assembled and tested in the U.S.

And remember, even if you don't find a recalled unit, you may find another unit or no dehumidifier at all. This is the PERFECT time to use hygrometers, moisture analysis forms and our comparison sell sheets to talk about BETTER solutions to basement humidity.
