Dear Playhouse Village Businesses,
During these trying times, we want you all to know that the PVA is here to serve you. We are working diligently to put together several resources from local, state, and national entities expressly designed for small businesses and our Village community. The situation continues to be fluid, but we are doing our best to compile this information on our website: www.playhousevillage.org/covid19updates.
Here are five grants that Pasadena businesses may be eligible to apply for:
1. California Small Business Relief Grant Program
The State of California's COVID-19 Small Business Relief Grant Program is still accepting applications for Round 1. Small business and non-profits can apply for micro grants up to $25,000. The program is not set-up as first come, first serve, so applications can be submitted at any time before 11:59 PM today, January 13th. For more information, visit www.careliefgrant.com.
2. Found/LA Round 2 Grant
The FOUND/LA Small Business Recovery Fund is a partnership with Pacific Community Ventures and TMC Community Capital and a grant program to help protect small businesses across Los Angeles County. They aim to support local entrepreneurs like you that create the spaces that make our neighborhoods feel like home. Applications for Round 2 will close on January 17th.

3. SBA PPP Round 2 Loan
The U.S. SBA re-opened its PPP forgivable loan program for new borrowers and second rounds for certain existing borrowers. The PPP is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll. Learn more about PPP first draw loans here and about PPP second draw loans here.

4. Pasadena Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program
The City of Pasadena and Pasadena Community Foundation announce th Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program to assist small businesses in Pasadena impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program provides approximately 50 reimbursable grants of $7,500 each to qualifying small businesses. Business owners that are eligible for grants must meet these criteria:
- 5 or fewer employees
- Operate out of a street-level storefront in the City of Pasadena
- Have experienced an economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Own 51%+ (majority) of business
- Other eligibility criteria apply. Please see guidelines for details.
Grant applications will be accepted from January 25th – February 12th. Pasadena Community Foundation and the Pasadena SBDC will conduct four Zoom Information Sessions to assist grant applicants. See the schedule and learn more about the grant program here.
5. Pasadena Rotary Club Community Grants
In 2021, the Pasadena Rotary Club's Community Grants Committee will consider applications from non-profit organizations in the arts or culture. This year's focus will be on providing financial support to address organizational needs that have arisen as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Community Grants Applications Guidelines are here. The Community Grants Applications are here and must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 10th.
