Sometimes when friends survive a serious illness, they say to me, “The Lord must not be finished with me yet. He must have some greater purpose for me.” I know he does. Have you discovered God’s purpose for your life? Are you pursuing it?
After God made a way for Nehemiah to get to Jerusalem, he began to rebuild the broken wall of Jerusalem. This was his great passion. Obstacles arose again and again. Nehemiah handled each challenge with prayer. One of the greatest distractions came from local leaders who interrupted him again and again. Notice Nehemiah’s response when they insisted five times that he meet with them: I am carrying on a great project and I cannot come down.”
If the devil cannot defeat us, he will distract us. Our clarity comes from our calling. If we know we are doing what God wants us to do, we have nothing to fear. When dealing with distractions, remember God’s purpose. Close to the beginning of this new year, let us consecrate ourselves again to complete the great project God has for us to do. We have no time to waste. Ask the Lord to strengthen our hands. He did not bring us this far to leave us.
