As part of our Strategic Plan, St. Michael’s recently completed an exciting brand strategy and messaging project with the research and consulting firm Share More Stories to explore how our School is perceived in the greater Richmond educational landscape and what makes us special and unique. Through the voices of parents, alumni, students, faculty, and admissions leaders, what we heard was both profound and energizing-- and deeply affirming of our mission. From this research, we’ve crafted refreshed brand messaging that celebrates what we do best: honoring childhood, truly knowing and loving each student, celebrating joyful learning, and cultivating a deep sense of belonging at St M.

Back-to-School Nights for K-8 This Week
Join us for Back-to-School Nights by division this week (for parents only).
Middle School (MS Grades 6-8)
Tuesday, Sept. 9, Singleton Hall, 6:30 p.m.
Lower School (LS Grades K-5)
Wednesday, Sept. 10, Perkinson Arts Center, 6:30 p.m.
Time has also been built into each evening to hold class calendar meetings (to review key school and classroom events, volunteer opportunities, and more). Room parents will share additional information and class calendars. Please plan to attend.

Picture Day: September 16
We are happy to announce that Picture Day is coming soon for all K-8 grades on Tuesday, September 16!
Families will have the opportunity to purchase pictures after viewing a proof. Proofs will be brought home by students around 2 weeks after picture day. A portion of the sales goes back to the St. Michael's Parents' Association!
NOTE: All students will be photographed regardless of whether they choose to purchase photos, as these photos are used for the annual yearbook.
Eighth Graders will receive special instructions from room parents re: dress requirements as their portraits are more formal in nature.

Carpool Reminders- No passing unless a staff member on duty directs you to do so.
- Please do not arrive before 2:30 p.m. Early arrivals block families who need to pick up children for appointments. If you’re ahead of schedule, we kindly ask that you wait at the Trader Joe’s shopping center parking lot until carpool begins. If you need your child right at the start of carpool, please call the School to arrange parking in the green lot to pick up from the front office.
- For safety, children must exit on the passenger side only.
- Thank you for your cooperation in keeping carpool safe, smooth, and respectful for everyone.

Eighth Grade Camping Trip
Our 8th graders will partake in a much-anticipated annual overnight camping trip, September 11-12.

Simple Sundays
Sunday, September 21, will be the last "Simple Sunday" Eucharist at 8:30 a.m. in the outdoor chapel at St. Michael's School. (Enjoy joyful music, a brief homily, and Holy Communion in a peaceful setting by the lake. Come as you are-- we'd love to see you!) After September 21, all are welcome and encouraged to attend services at St. Michael's Church in Bon Air.
Fall Family Fun: St. Michael's Church's annual Fall Fest will be held on their campus from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, September 27 (petting zoo, live music, food, face painting), and their outdoor tent service to celebrate the Feast of St. Michael will be held the following day, Sunday, September 28, at 10 a.m. Address: 2040 McRae Rd, Bon Air, VA 23235.

For the health and safety of all of our students, faculty, and staff, thank you for informing St. Michael’s if your child is ill and/or has a suspected contagious illness.
Upon receipt of this information, Nurse Maben, St M's school nurse, will contact the family. Please keep your child(ren) AT HOME until contacted by Nurse Maben.
