UIT is retiring Box FTPS service on 7/18 |
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance IT security for University of Utah resources, UIT is retiring Box’s file transfer protocol secure (FTPS) service.
|
By Friday, July 18, 2025, please select a new FTPS service for Box imports and exports that complies with University of Utah Policy 4-004, which requires two-factor authentication (2FA) and data encryption, among other things. UIT’s UMail & Collaboration team recommends using Box apps and supported integrations, such as:

- Box Drive
-
Box Sync
- Kumo
- RClone
- API developer access
|
If you are unsure whether an FTPS service complies with university policy, please contact the UMail & Collaboration team at umailadmins@umail.utah.edu or the Information Security Office’s Governance, Risk & Compliance team at iso-grc@utah.edu.
