August 26 – 29, the University of Michigan, the University of California, Berkeley, and Georgia Tech will co-host the 2024 NextProf Nexus Future Faculty Workshop on Michigan Engineering’s campus. This 3-day workshop is intended for senior-level Ph.D. candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early career scientists or researchers in the field of engineering. This preeminent event is part of a nationwide effort to strengthen and diversify the next generation of academic leaders in engineering and is designed to give participants the opportunity to explore and prepare for a faculty position in academia. | Funding Opportunity: Schmidt Science Fellows
|
Georgia Tech has been invited to nominate up to 7 candidates for the Schmidt Science Fellows Cohort 2025. Nominees must have been awarded or anticipate being awarded a Ph.D. in the natural sciences (including Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Sciences), Engineering, Mathematics, or Computing disciplines – and all sub-disciplines therein – between May 15, 2024, and June 30, 2025. The program is for (soon to be) recent Ph.D. graduates who want to pursue a research pivot representing a genuine and innovative disciplinary departure from their Ph.D. studies. The Google Ph.D. Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. Fellowships support promising Ph.D. candidates of all backgrounds who seek to influence the future of technology. Students must be nominated by Georgia Tech via internal submission. The deadlines for Non-CoC students is April 22, 2024. The deadline for CoC students is April 15, 2024.

Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowship
|
The Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowship supports the best and brightest minds in their postdoctoral research in Israel, connecting them with world-class academics and leading researchers. Twenty-four fellowships are offered, each for 2 years with the possibility for a one-year renewal. Candidates are required to have an academic sponsor who is a faculty member at an eligible Israeli academic institution. Open to candidates who have received their PhD degrees no earlier than November 1, 2020, and no later than June 1, 2024. Online application closes at 5:00 pm IST (11 a.m. EST) on May 9, 2024.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the Wellness Empowerment Center is inviting survivors of sexual violence to share their stories at Georgia Tech's annual Take Back the Night event on April 15 at 7 p.m. at Harrison Square. Take Back the Night is a long-standing tradition at Georgia Tech and beyond where survivors of sexual and gender-based violence speak out by sharing personal experiences and holding a candlelight vigil to honor all victims and survivors. Survivors can also submit stories anonymously to be read by volunteers at the event. Your courage can inspire, educate, and empower others. Neurodivergent Mental health Speak-Out

Join us on Thursday, April 11th for a Mental Health Speak-Out focused on neurodivergence! This event will be an opportunity for members of the neurodivergent community to speak on their experiences with mental health services and t their struggles, as well as a more general discussion of how systemic oppressions contribute to mental health issues. We will be sharing information about affordable mental health services on campus and in the surrounding Atlanta area, as well as discussing ways these services could be improved!

Peer Coaching Program Now Accepting Applications for Peer Coaches

The Peer Coaching Program is a program developed by the Center for Mental Health Care and Resources to offer an innovative way for Tech students to access a unique type of support to facilitate academic and personal success. The PCP trains Tech students to provide one-on-one support and education to their peers and offers ongoing supervision in the provision of these services. The Center is now accepting applications from students who wish to be trained as a Peer Coach in Fall 2024. If you feel you would be a good fit and are ready to make an impact on the lives of your peers, please apply. Any questions can be sent to peercoaching@gatech.edu. The deadline to apply is April 26.
