Sauk County 4-H NewsHello All,
The four H's- Head, Hands, Heart, & Health. Sauk Cunty 4-H memebrrd showed the true meaning of Heart by providing over 150 homebound county Meals on Wheels residents, with a Valentine's Day card.
Valentine's Day is a time for sharing love and spreading joy, and this year, our 4-H members truly embodied that spirit. Imagine the smiles these handmade cards will bring. Each card, crafted with care and filled with warm wishes, is more than just a piece of paper; it's a tangible expression of connection and community.
To all the 4-H members who participated in this heartwarming project, thank you. You've shown us the true meaning of Valentine's Day, proving that love isn't just about romance; it's about caring for others and making our community a better place!

Become a scientist for a day.
Every living thing leaves tiny traces of DNA in its environment – even fish! By collecting water samples and analyzing them for environmental DNA (eDNA), we can detect the presence of specific species, including harmful Aquatic Invasive Spices, without needing to see them directly. It’s like being a Crime Scene Investigator for the underwater world!

The Performance Arts Festival provides opportunities for 4-H members to develop their skills in the performance arts and to share their talents and skills with the public. We encourage youth to choreograph their routines, and write their speaking/drama content. Overall, this event is a celebration of expression and performance.
Any member of Sauk County 4-H may enter. Youth do not need to be enrolled in any specific 4-H project to participate. Cloverbuds (those in kindergarten-2nd grade) are encouraged to participate.
All material performed should be suitable for a young audience.
Participants may enter only one item in each division but may enter any number of divisions.

Cupid isn’t the only one slinging arrows. The Sauk County 4-H Archery Project is excited to offer you three archery locations to participate in our 6-week youth archery workshop All members 3rd grade and above are encouraged to attend. These sessions cover everything from eye dominance and proper stance to aiming and releasing. Learn essential skills, build confidence, and hit the bullseye! All equipment is provided, and safety is our top priority. While personal equipment is welcome (after inspection), our gear is designed for all ages and skill levels.
We almost did not have enough instructors to offer archery this year. We NEED more adult archery instructors to keep up with our growing numbers. Please reach out to Stacy if you are interested at becoming a certified instructor. Sparsons4@wisc.edu

There are 2 camp experiences offered this year:
Base Camp: 4-H members and guests in 3rd-6th grades
Outpost Camp: 4-H members and guests in 7th & 8th grades
What is Base Camp?
Base Camp is a structured experience that offers campers a variety of activities throughout the day. Campers are placed into cabin groups of 5-10 and supported by a camp counselor. Base camp cabins will be in large cabins with twin beds or twin bunkbeds. Most cabins have a rest room in the cabins. There is a separate shower house with individual private showers. Campers participate in Swimming, Archery, Crafts, Disc Golf, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Scavenger Hunt, Nature Exploration and more. Camp days typically start at 7am through lights out at 10:30pm.
What is Outpost Camp?
Outpost camp is a more rustic camping experience. Cabins will be less modern, and campers will cook many meals over the fire. The schedule is less structured leaving time for youth to plan their days events together.
Outpost Campers will sleep in small cabins of 2-4. Most cabins have electricity, but no plumbing. Campers will have access to community restroom and shower house within walking distance. A porta-potty is also available nearby. There is a separate shower house with individual private showers. There are only 20 spots available for outpost camp, so register early!
Camp registration includes: meals, lodging, supplies, educational programs, expertise of the Columbia, Dodge & Sauk County Camp staff (youth counselors & adult volunteers) & more!
Registrations are due no later than April 30th at 4:30pm.
