4-H Summer Intern Update

I hope you all had an amazing fair week! Here are this week's updates to what I’ve been working on:

We just had our second Cloverbud Day camp on Wednesday. It was Day on the Farm held at the Halbur Farm! We went on a farm walk, learned about sheep and chickens, made butter, and played farm games! All the kids had a great time! Our last Cloverbud Day Camp is Outdoor Survival on August 17. The youth will be making s’mores with solar ovens and using GPS tracking to explore nature! There is still time to sign up if you are interested!

The fair was last week and I led some fun activities in the action center. Some of the activities included paper airplanes, bracelets, and paper plate animals! All the activities went over very well, and we had lots of people interested in joining 4-H! For those people interested in 4-H, I’ll be sending them a postcard in the mail with some more information to get them started!

This next week is a busy week! Cardboard Camp is from August 2nd through the 4th from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Kids will be building a city out of cardboard with some daily team challenges! There is still time to register if you are interested. You can sign up at 4-HOnline

August 2 is National Night Out. We will have a 4-H booth set up to promote 4-H as well as doing an activity with the kids. This event will be held at the Fairgrounds Park from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

August 3 is National Watermelon Day! In honor of that, we will be holding a Watermelon Day with some fun watermelon activities such as trivia, watermelon bowling, seed spitting contest, and more! Youth in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to join us! This event will take place at the UWO Fond du Lac Campus from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm in room AE-205/206.

Sincerely,
Makayla Stommel

WI State Fair Entries

Best of luck to the youth who have WI State Fair entries! Several youth are representing Fond du Lac County with youth exhibits selected at the 2022 county fair.
Good luck to all the animal exhibitors as well.  If you get a chance to go down to the state fair, be sure to look for some of the items pictured!
