On Tuesday, April 25th, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the NYU Department of Campus Safety received a report of an attempted robbery that occurred in the Brooklyn Commons.
The complainant, an NYU student, reported that around 2:40 p.m., while they were in the Brooklyn Commons about to reach 5 Metrotech, they noticed a subject coming up from behind them. The subject grabbed at the complainant's shoulder bag and attempted to take the bag away. After a brief struggle, the complainant was able to enter the building with their belongings, and the subject fled south. No injuries were reported.
Description of Subjects: The subject was described as male-presenting with a dark complexion, weighing between 100 and 110 pounds, about 5'5" tall, and in their late teens, wearing a black jacket, black pants, and black sneakers. No additional details are available at this time.
