As the federal government shutdown continues and changes to SNAP (H.R. 1) will soon be taking effect, many of our supporters are asking what they can do to support the students and families who rely on our services.
At Feed Northland Kids, our staff and board are ready to meet this growing need. Throughout the fall, we’ve seen a steady increase in families signing up for Community Food Kits, and several schools have requested to open new pantry sites. More and more families are turning to their school districts for guidance and support—and we’re committed to being there for them.
I am deeply grateful to our Board of Directors, who consistently say yes. Yes to expanding services, food kits, and pantries. Yes to finding creative ways to raise the funds we need to purchase food. Yes to packing, delivering, and distributing more meals than ever before.
So, how can you help?
You can donate. More than 97% of our program budget goes directly toward purchasing food for our Community Food Kits—putting meals on the tables of students and their families across the Northland. With your contributions, we buy from local grocers and bulk suppliers, stretching every dollar to provide healthy, complete meals.
Hungry kids come from hungry families. During this time of uncertainty, your support ensures that children—and the people who love them—have what they need most: food, stability, and hope.
With gratitude,
Gwen O'Brien
