Pathways to Medicine Summer Program 2026

(Session A: 12pm to 3pm PST OR Session B: 3pm to 6pm PST)

This summer, Pathways to Medicine will introduce college undergraduates  to the journey toward becoming a physician. Across 5 virtual sessions, participants will engage in health professional speaker talks, career workshops, and interactive presentations. We’ll explore how academic coursework, clinical and research experience, leadership, and service roles can all support your journey toward medical school. We’ll also cover how the medical school application process is structured through entrance exams, application platforms, and interviews. Students will learn how medical school typically unfolds over 4 years through classroom learning, clinical training, and patient care. We’ll also explore the licensure exams, residency training, and fellowship opportunities that shape the transition into physician practice. By the end of PtM, you will have a clearer understanding of the pathway to becoming a physician and begin building a personalized student-to-physician plan based on your goals.

Do You Need to Take the PREview Exam?  
The majority of medical school applicants will submit a score for the PREview exam in their application. If you are applying to medical school for the 2027 cycle, you may be among those who need to take the PREview exam. Be sure to check the current list of schools that require or recommend the exam as part of their admissions processes.  
   
More students are registering for the PREview exam each year. Don’t wait to register for one of the remaining dates if you plan to take the exam. 

Registration will close on Wednesday, July 8 for July 22-23 exams. 

Registration will close on Wednesday, July 29 for Aug. 12-13 exams.

If you aren’t ready to register yet, please remember that exams are held through October. Visit our website for information on the testing calendar, registration deadlines, and preparation resources, including our new online practice exam. You can also learn more about how the PREview exam can showcase your understanding of professional behaviors that are important for entering medical students.   

Clinical Research Coordinator

As a CRC, you will be recruiting, enrolling, performing research procedures on participants, and collecting data such as vitals, BMI, and biospecimen samples. Additionally, you will assist in processing biospecimen samples during research visits. This is a perfect opportunity for those looking for hands-on clinical and research experience in the hospital during their gap year. 

Required: At least a Bachelor's Degree in Biological or Biomedical sciences, and be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident. We are looking for those who will stay with us for at least a year.

--Follow HIPPA confidentiality guidelines

--Check patients into the practice management system

--Answer phone calls, faxes, provide appropriate assistance, and redirect calls appropriately

--Work as a liaison between the patients and the physician

--Follow established policies and guidelines for processing patients to be seen by the physician 

--Verify Insurance eligibility

--Verify patient demographic information (e.g., address, phone number) at every visit

--Assist with daily stocking and cleaning of work area 

--Works and supports the entire team to established outcomes in coordination with overall organizational goals.
