Comprehensive Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) visit SBCC

On Tuesday and Wednesday, 10/12 and 10/13, Santa Barbara City College will be hosting the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges visiting team as they conduct the site visit for the reaffirmation of SBCC’s accreditation status. The site visit will be conducted virtually through Zoom. The following are details of the forum that employees and members of the community are encouraged to attend. The forums will not be recorded.
SBCC is one of the three pilot colleges in ACCJC’s new process for reaffirmation of a college’s accreditation status. In this new process the site visit is focused on the core inquiries that were identified earlier in the year when the visiting team reviewed the institution's self evaluation report.
Open/Public Forum
The site visit will focus on the four core inquiries that were identified by the visiting team when they reviewed SBCC’s Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER). The four core Inquiries encompass the following areas.
1. Student Learning Outcomes: The team seeks to confirm course and program outcomes are regularly assessed.
2. Assessment and Planning: The team wishes to verify assessment of academic and student support services regardless of location, including assessment of outcomes, and how assessment results are used for continuous improvement.
3. Employee Evaluations: The team looks to confirm evaluation of personnel systematically and at stated intervals.
4. Facilities Total Cost of Ownership: The team desires clarification that long-range capital plans reflect projections of the total cost of ownership of new facilities and equipment.
The visiting team will host an Open Forum on Tuesday, 10/12/2021, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. This forum is an opportunity for the college community to address the team. The team requests that comments and questions be focused on the above core inquiries.
