Year in Review
Thank you to our family of donors for making 2019 a record-breaking year in making a difference! We collectively awarded $13 million in grants and raised $16.8 million in new and planned gifts in 2019 – making it the largest grantmaking year and third highest fundraising year in Stark Community Foundation history. The Foundation’s well-diversified portfolio of investments finished the year strong with a net investment return of 18.4%, allowing each charitable fund to grow so donors can continue to give more to causes they care about. Assets under management now total $285 million, which continues to rank the Foundation in the top 10 percent of community foundations in the United States.

GRANT IN MOTION
My Community Health Center
My Community Health Center, a nonprofit organization and federally qualified health center, operates a location in Canton and opened a second location in Magnolia on Cleveland Avenue SE in early January. The nonprofit chose Magnolia as its second location because Magnolia has been designated as a hot spot by the Health and Human Services Administration due to high unmet medical need and low healthcare penetration. The much-needed location became a reality in part by a $25,000 grant from Stark Community Foundation and our family of donors. Funds were awarded to help with renovation costs and the purchasing of medical equipment.
The location in Magnolia improves access to healthcare for the medically-underserved community by providing primary care and behavioral health services to local patients. My Community Health Center also offers a sliding fee discount program based on income and household size, and no patient is ever denied care based on ability to pay.
