Romans 11:32-12:2

For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable his judgments,
    and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
    Or who has been his counselor?”
“Who has ever given to God,
    that God should repay them?”
For from him and through him and for him are all things.
    To him be the glory forever! Amen.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

"The quality of mercy is not strained," wrote Shakespeare. Have you ever needed mercy? Paul wrote that Jews and Gentiles alike need mercy. Thankfully God is merciful.

I grew up singing the doxology. Here Paul offered his own doxology. He praised God for his wisdom and kindness. Then with no chapter break in his original letter, Paul invited the believers in Rome to worship God in view of his mercy, by offering their bodies as living sacrifices.

Wherever we live in this world, we find ourselves in full view of God's mercy. Sooner or later we all need God's mercy. In Christ, praise God, we have it. "Mercy there was great and grace was free." Where? "At Calvary."

In view of God's mercy, how will we worship God today? Let's give him our whole lives!

Pray with me:
Father, we see your mercy everywhere we look. Here are our lives God. Take them and let them be consecrated to you. In Jesus' name. Amen!
