| Dear colleagues,
I want to start by expressing my deep gratitude to the entire BMC2 community. It has been one of the great privileges of my career to work alongside so many talented, dedicated, and mission-driven colleagues who share a deep commitment to improving cardiovascular care for patients across Michigan.
Since joining BMC2 in 2006, I’ve been continually inspired by what we are able to accomplish together. Through our shared

focus on collaboration, data-driven improvement, and patient-centered care, we’ve achieved meaningful reductions in transfusion rates, vascular complications, kidney injury, radiation exposure, and hospital readmissions in PCI.
In vascular surgery, our collective efforts have led to safer opioid prescribing, strengthened smoking cessation initiatives, and improved infection control, myocardial infarction prevention, and evidence-based medication use.
We’ve expanded the Michigan Structural Heart Consortium registry to include mitral valve replacement and are preparing to add tricuspid data in the coming year. Our documentation of KCCQ and NYHA classifications has grown stronger, and through the Michigan Cardiac Rehab Network, we’ve seen more patients benefit from cardiac rehabilitation after PCI and structural heart procedures.
Our peer review process continues to foster honest reflection and learning, ensuring that every patient receives the best care possible. Our research and publications have changed care both in and beyond Michigan.
I’m especially grateful to our PCI and Vascular Patient and Caregiver Advisors, whose voices remind us daily of the purpose behind all that we do.
With Dr. Nick Osborne and Dr. Eric Cantey now leading the Consortium and with Mollie Bodin’s exemplary leadership, I’m confident that BMC2 will continue to grow and set new standards for excellence in cardiovascular care.
Serving Michigan’s cardiovascular patients alongside all of you has been an extraordinary journey and one of the greatest honors of my professional life. Thank you for your partnership, trust, and friendship over these many years.
Happy holidays,

Effective January 1, 2026, the BMC2 Coordinating Center will no longer email reports, data, or site correspondence to personal email addresses.
We recognize this is often not convenient, but cybersecurity threats - including those targeting hospital systems within our consortium - have prompted us to consider more secure processes. Receiving site data at your personal email address puts your site and BMC2 in danger. Emails will only be sent to provider email addresses affiliated with hospital or provider sites.

The Coordinating Center team is working to create interactive dashboards for BMC2 reports. We are utilizing the drawings and suggestions submitted by Consortium members during the May PCI Collaborative and Vascular Surgery Physician Meetings and the November MISHC Coordinator Meeting.
We shared a sneak peek at the Vascular Surgery report dashboards during the October 23rd Collaborative Meeting in Detroit. We are excited to offer you the opportunity to engage with your data in a new and meaningful way, and for the improvements to quality of care and outcomes it will bring to our patients across Michigan. More to come in the New Year.

Support for BMC2 is provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network as part of the BCBSM Value Partnerships program.
Although Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and BMC2 work collaboratively, the opinions, beliefs, and viewpoints expressed by the author do not necessarily reflect the opinions, beliefs, and viewpoints of BCBSM or any of its employees.
Further, BCBSM does not have access to BMC2 data, and all patient episodes occurring at engaged hospitals are included in the data registries, regardless of payer.
