Friends and Supporters of PittCo Young Life,
The spring season is almost here and the transition from winter to spring brings about a new season and new rhythms for PittCo Young Life. Leaders will get to attend spring sporting events to cheer on students as well as sit with them in the stands. Club and Campaigners will be able to move outside to Frances Hurt Park some weeks as well. We also have exciting things coming up in our area - both our Annual Mulch Madness Fundraiser and a luncheon for local pastors to discuss how we can partner together.

The start of spring also means that we are also beginning to prepare to take students to Young Life Camp this summer. This summer, we are taking students to Windy Gap which is a Young Life Camp in the mountains of North Carolina. We are extremely excited because this is the 5 year anniversary of our first ever PittCo Young Life camp trip when we took 10 students and 2 leaders. We pray that we can take at least 20 students and 4 leaders this summer. Part of what will make this possible is having a successful fundraiser to remove any possible financial barriers that could keep students from attending summer camp. The cost for camp is $850 per camper and leader. We are currently writing grants and asking for different sponsorships to help lower the costs. In the past, our Mulch Madness fundraiser has been one of the most effective fundraisers in sending students to Young Life Summer Camp. We are prayerful that a successful Mulch Madness will cut the cost in half and make our trip more affordable for our students.

This is what a student at Chatham High School said about how going to Young Life Camp last summer impacted them: “It was an amazing week. When Ben told me that it would be the best week of my life, I’m not so sure I believed him or that it would actually be that big of a deal. It definitely was the best week of my life and I can’t wait to go back. If you asked me the week after camp what my favorite part was I would have definitely said club and the food, but now that it’s 7 months after, it was saying yes to Jesus. I’ve grown up in the church my whole life so I would say I am a believer but camp changed me and God made it really personal. I went from participating and going to church to having a real personal relationship with God.”

Would you consider being a part of our Mulch Madness Fundraiser this year to help more students have this type of transformation?

Mulch Madness has consistently been one of the most effective fundraisers we have to help send students to summer camp. Last year, we were able to raise $6,720. This helped send 23 students and leaders to go to summer camp. Mulch Madness will take place on March 30th this year. Mulch will be available for pickup or delivery. From 9am-1pm, there will be 15-20 students and leaders driving all over the county to deliver mulch. Due to the generosity of Timberland Mulch company of Rocky Mount, we have secured two tractor trailers loads of hardwood mulch. The deadline to order is March 29th. LUNCHEON FOR LOCAL PASTORS
|

|
We are so very thankful for all the support we have been receiving from our community in so many different ways and we are trying different ways to do that. Michael Washington, HMA Chaplain and committee member, and Ben Paris will be hosting a Pastor’s luncheon and informational meeting on April 6th from 11am-1pm. We will fellowship together from 11am-12pm then have a presentation with a time for Q & A. We can also provide a zoom link for those that can’t not attend in person. We hope to build some better relationships with our local churches and to cast a vision on how PittCo Young Life, Hargrave Military Academy, and the local body of churches can come together for the Kingdom of God. We are extremely excited about this luncheon and look forward to the conversations that day and in the future. If you know of a pastor or church that would like to come learn more about who we are please have them reach out to me at benparis76@gmail.com or to Michael Washington at michael.washington@hargrave.edu.

Thank you for your continued support and investment into the lives of our students. We are seeing big changes in the lives of students all the time and we could only do this with the support of our amazing donors.
In Christ,
Ben Paris and Committee
